CEDAR BROOK SUMMER PROGRAMS 2020

CORONAVIRUS: COULD CAMP BE CANCELLED?
Cedar Brook cares about the health and well being of your family. In this is time of great uncertainty we are making changes to our camp registration policy to ensure you and your families are not put at undue financial risk when registering for Cedar Brook Camps. At present registration remains open. In the event that summer camps are cancelled all families will be Fully Refunded their deposit on summer camp registration. Cedar Brook will also offer the option of moving the registration to a camp later in the summer should camps be allowed to operate. Cedar Brook’s top priority remains the safety of your children and family, thank you for your support!

We strive to offer a variety of fun summer programs for kids who enjoy and appreciate nature. From survival skills and tracking, to pottery and cooking; Cedar Brook offers a wholesome learning environment based on the values of respect, friendship and self-awareness. We offer a platform for youth to discover and explore the things they love to do in nature.

Camps run from 8:30am to 4:30pm Monday to Friday with early drop off beginning at 7:30am and late pickup until 5:30pm (There is no camp on Canada Day and New Brunswick Day).

OUTDOOR LEADERSHIP

Ages 13-15
June 22 – 26

A leader is someone who takes care of themselves, others, their community and nature! You will walk the path of the leader. Brainstorm and create a nature based community project. Work with others to accomplish wilderness challenges. Complete rescue missions, learn orienteering skills and have the opportunity to join the guide team as a volunteer!

SHERLOCK! NATURE OBSERVATION

Ages 8-11, 12-14
June 29 – July 3

At the end of an animal’s  tracks is a living breathing thing! Track and study wildlife up close to learn how they communicate with each other, their environment and human beings. Test water quality for microbes, and examine the chemical compounds in medicinal plants. Learn the secret language of birds!

$200 (4 day week) + $20 material fee

WILDERNESS SURVIVAL I

Ages 8-11, 12-14
July 6 – 10

Discover the skills you would need to survive in a true emergency! Learn to make fire with and without matches and how to tend the fire safely. Learn knife safety, how to identify and harvest wild edible plants, and campfire cooking. Build shelters and create fun and practical items like baskets, tools or rope.

$250 + $35 material fee

PRIMITIVE TECHNOLOGY I

Ages 8-11, 12-14
July 13-17

Craft items using your knowledge and the elements of earth, fire, water and air!  Improve your safe use of knives by carving and crafting. Build your own fire, carry water, harvest wood and stone to make cooking pots, hunting tools, traps and more. Use your equipment to complete challenges and improve your skills.

WILDERNESS SURVIVAL II

Ages 8-11, 12-14
July 20-24

Learn advanced techniques to help you thrive in the wilderness! Track and move silently over challenging terrain.  Get muddy and dress in natural camouflage while you gather edible and medicinal plants. Make rope, build your shelter then catch frogs and crawfish to cook over a fire made without matches.

$250 + $35 material fee

PRIMITIVE TECHNOLOGY  II

Ages 8-11, 12-14
July 27 – 31

Make and fire your very own bow and arrow! Pick your own projects with the freedom and guidance to create baskets, jewelry, pottery, animal traps. and more.  Work as part of a team to build bridges, trebuchets,  or lookout towers, Create hand tools from harvested wood and stone to help you build more creations.

$250 + $35 material fee

FOREST PROTECTOR LAND STEWARDSHIP

Ages 8-11, 12-14
Aug 4 – 7

Learn from trained forestry experts to be a steward of the woods! Create low-impact trails, harvest trees, plants and animals selectively and protect them for future generations.  Track animals and see where they eat, sleep and drink.  Learn safety with both modern and primitive tree felling tools.

$200 (4 day week)

JR. CHEF, WILD FOOD & PERMACULTURE

Ages 8-11, 12-14
Aug 10 – 14

Hungry for adventure, wild foods, gardening and cooking? Venture into the forest and fields to find delicious edible plants. Cook with clay pots, hot rocks and more. Learn how to tend fires for cooking, gather  and use plants and animals (optional), help with permaculture projects and carve kitchen tools.

$250 + $35 material fee

JEDI BODY, JEDI MIND

Ages 8-11, 12-14
Aug 17 – 21

Connect mind and body to become a true jedi master! Practice awareness to get in touch with the force in and around you. Expand your senses through force vision and force listening training. Expert guides will help you explore the world of foam sword combat. Build a lightsaber, run the obstacle course and make friends.

$250 + $35 material fee

AWAKENED HEART COMPASSION CAMP

Ages 8-11, 12-14
Aug 24 – 28

Become a better friend! Create and sustain healthy relationships, expand your self awareness and compassion for people, plants and animals. Manage boundaries and practice assertiveness in a safe atmosphere. Practice awareness, yoga, sit-spots and meditation. Enjoy games, music, dance, stories and circle activities.
